Instead of having a bunch of threads on individual tags, how about we try a wiki-style list.

In each answer, put the tag in question as well as your rationale as to why that tag should be removed. For reference, here's the blog posting on the death of meta tags.

This list can also cover tag synonyms. I.e. should be mapped to . Note that you can vote on tag synonyms other people propose For a list of synonyms currently in the system, go here: http://gamedev.stackexchange.com/tags/synonyms?filter=all&tab=newest

Current list of blacklisted tags (the tag page links should be empty)

Note that there's an easy way to link to tags nowadays. The format is:

[tag:TAG_NAME]

The tags mentioned in some answers have been deleted, synonymised or otherwise dealt with. Would it make sense to delete those answers so it's clear what "useless" tags still need to be discussed? – Anko Feb 2 at 19:27

and , favoring .

There's very little to write about A* itself; people just mention it because it's the only pathfinding algorithm they know, and sometimes they don't even need search for their pathfinding.

(I know A* isn't a pathfinding algorithm; it's an informed search algorithm. I don't think anyone will use when they mean to use .)
